Mychael Overview
Mychael lives alone in a cabin deep in the forest, surrounded by knitted decor, a vegetable garden, and a small chicken coop.
He is introduced as nervous but attentive, offering the player a warm drink, food, shelter, and repeated checks on their condition.
The script frames him as both comforting and unsettling. He is lonely, curious about human life, and guarded about what he is and what he can do.
Personality and Traits
- Skilled cook who learned through trial and error
- Forager, gardener, knitter, and careful cabin keeper
- Socially awkward after long isolation
- Protective, affectionate, and intensely afraid of rejection
- Able to influence thoughts, fear, and memory
Story Notes
Mychael says he has no known parents and treats the idea of family as something he has mostly learned from books and observation.
He names the player firefly, a nickname that becomes part of his warmer scenes and his emotional attachment.
His relationship with the mushroom-like ring is important to the mystery. When questioned too directly, the script reveals that he knows more about memory and suggestion than he first admits.
He treats the hens in his coop as family, giving them both formal names and nicknames: Mawar as Marmar, Sansuyu as Sunny, and Primrose as Rosie.
Relationships
The protagonist
Mychael rescues, shelters, feeds, and grows attached to the player character, while their choices shape how much trust remains between them.
The player's cat
The missing cat is what draws the protagonist into the forest and becomes a test of how Mychael understands family and attachment.
Marmar, Sunny, and Rosie
The three hens are the closest thing Mychael openly presents as family during the cabin route.
